Leona Edmonds

Leona Edmonds, 64, of Fort Worth, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2007 at a local hospital.Leona Edmonds was born March 19, 1943 in Dallas, Texas the daughter of A.L. "Hempy" Hemphill and the late Susie Mae Tindle Hemphill. Leona moved to Weatherford in 1972 and was a former member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Known by family and friends as "Ma", Leona had a very kind, loving, and giving heart. She adored her grandchildren. Leona will be remembered for her chicken and dumplings and homemade fudge. She also loved playing Bingo and Elvis.Leona was preceded in death by her mother; grandmother, Johnnie Mae Tindle; brother, Jerry Don Hemphill; Hazel Hemphill, and Craig Merryman. Survivors include father, A.L. Hemphill of Whitney; daughters, Shari Beth Woodruff and husband, Brant of Azle, Lisa Woods and husband, Todd of Weatherford; son, Luther Edmonds and wife, Megan of Fort Worth; daughter, Jennifer Bean and husband, George of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Amy Schindler of Azle, Jennifer Williams of Fort Worth, Tyler Merryman of Weatherford, Lucas Harrell of Fort Worth, Cameron Merryman of Weatherford, Jacob Woods of Weatherford, Alyssa Hale of Fort Worth, Gabriel Bean of Fort Worth; great grandchildren, Skyler Williams and Ozzilyn Schindler; brother, Steve Hemphill and wife, Carol; sisters, Nancy Malone and husband, Harold, Juanita Smith and husband, Chester; aunts, Jerry Bates of Blue Springs, MO and Margaret Graham of Sweetwater. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled 10 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2007 at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford. Burial will follow in East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford. The family will receive guests 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
