Clota Janet Clinton, 91, of Weatherford passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, surrounded by her loving family.Memorial Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford. Services will be officiated by Dr. Steve Buckland, pastor, First Baptist Church of Weatherford and Gary Wood, minister of music, Northside Baptist Church of Weatherford. Interment: will follow in Memory Gardens of Valley Memorial Park, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford. Visitation: The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home.Clota Janet Clinton was born May 23, 1916 in Zephyr, Brown County, Texas, the daughter of the late Elmer and Bera Murphree. She later moved with her family to Authon, where she met and married Anson Clinton in 1936.Clota always had the dream of becoming a vocational nurse because of her great love and compassion for others. In 1965 that dream became a reality when she graduated from nursing school. She began her second career at Campbell Memorial Hospital and continued to serve for many years with Palo Pinto General and Fort Wolters hospitals.Clota was a charter member of Adell Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, music director and church treasurer. After the death of her beloved husband, Anson, Clota moved from the family farm at Adell to Weatherford to be closer to her family. Here she quickly became a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church and a volunteer for several organizations.Survivors: Sons, Jerry, Carl, Dale and their families; brother, Kenneth Murphree; sister, Orene Hodge; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of loving friends.
