Nadine Lucille Harris, 85 years old, of Weatherford, Texas, joined her heavenly Father on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at a Fort Worth hospital.Nadine was born on January 20, 1922 in Tipton, Oklahoma to William Henry and Mary Florence Young. She was one of seven children, all girls. Her father, who was a Justice of the Peace, was delighted having all girls and considered them all angels.Nadine married Robert Lee McDonald and they had four children. Robert Lee died at a young age, and Nadine married Jack Harris in Houston. This marriage included two step children. They moved to Newport Beach, California where they lived forty years and spoke highly of this area as the most beautiful spot on earth.After entering the business world as a model, Nadine started as a posting clerk, in accounting, of a small fiberglass company which became the giant Conolon/Garcia Fishing Gear & Sports Equipment Corporation. She became the Personnel Director of this corporation and retired after several years. She attended junior college and university to keep abreast of the changing Federal and State laws. Some of Nadine's most enjoyable experiences were meeting famous people in the movie and television industry.Nadine was a member of the California Business Women's Association and several other organizations. She was very active in her church, a sponsor for Feed The Children, and a volunteer for a reading program for the elderly in nursing homes. Everywhere Nadine lived, she cooked extra food to take to the neighbors. After her husband's death, she moved to Amarillo, and then on to Weatherford to be closer to her children and other relatives. Nadine was a volunteer at the Campbell Hospital in Weatherford. She was very active in four churches that she attended. Newport/Mesa Center, in California, South Lawn Assembly of God, in Amarillo, North Main Church of God, and New River Fellowship in Weatherford. All the pastors in these churches held a special place in her heart and life. Nadine's ministries included helping the needy, whether it be financial, food, shelter, or just a word of encouragement. Her special gifted ministry, many can attest to, was her timely, inspirational, handwritten cards. Several friends and relatives have a treasured card of Nadine's that they have placed in a secure place, such as a Bible to reflect upon the words that the Lord gave her to share with them.Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Irene, Thelma, Leona, Edna, and JoHelen. Nadine is survived by her son, Robert Lynn McDonald of Norman, Oklahoma; daughters, Lou Trechia Abel of Garland, Lodean DeVaney of Plano, Deanna Stone and husband Anthony of Weatherford; stepchildren, Charles D Harris and wife Colleen of Sand Point, Idaho, Jackie Lockamy of Wichita, Kansas; sister, Ruby Bledsoe of Hot Springs, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Also several beloved nieces, nephews, sister and brother-in-laws. She had many friends that were dear to her heart and treasured their friendship.A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Gideons International, Nashville, Tenn., in her name because Nadine loved the word of God and wanted to share His message.
