Walter Joseph Gremminger passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007 surrounded by family and friends.He was born in Scotland, Texas, on June 16, 1922, to Joe Joseph and Lucy Stoeck Gremminger. He married Louise Lorenz in 1951 and out of that marriage was born three children: Daniel, Michael and Carolyn. Louise preceded him in death in 2003.Walter was a man of many trades. He joined the United States Navy in 1942 and was there four years. He was a dairyman for 20 years. He was a trucker and before retiring, he was a builder and remodeler. Anyone who knew Walter knew he was always trying to make a deal. For 14 years, everyone looked forward to his Fourth of July Yard Sales. Walter was a many of few words and could never say "no" to anyone. He was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church.In 2004, Walter married Linda Bates.He was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory (Shorty) earlier this year.The family wishes to thank Covenant Hospice for their dignified care, with special thanks to Tammy. The family also sends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Loran Mott and Dr. Johnny Mark Wilson for their professional and attentive care.Walter is survived by his wife, Linda; his three children, Daniel, Michael and Carolyn; and his sister, Beatrice Steal.Graveside Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in the Spring Creek Cemetery, next to the mother of his three children, Louise."I needed the quiet so He drew me aside.Into the shadows where we could confide.Away from the bustle where all the day longI hurried and worried when active and strong.I needed the quiet tho at first I rebelledBut gently, so gently, my cross He upheldAnd whispered so sweetly of spiritual thingsTho weakened in body, my spirit took wingsTo heights never dreamed of when active all day.He loved me so greatly He drew me away.I needed the quiet.
