Jackie Gene "Spanky" Dollar, 72, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, surrounded by his family at his residence in Springtown. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Community Church, 2233 East Highway 199, Springtown. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Springtown Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown. Jackie was born July 27, 1935 in Mannsville, Oklahoma, the son of Charley and Inez Dollar. He married Theda Joyce Eaves on May 14, 1956 in Graham, Okla. Jackie served from 1958 to 1960 in the U.S. Army. He worked for Rozelle Construction Co. as an oilfield roustabout. In 1966 he moved to Euless and began working for the Euless Fire Dept. He left the Euless Fire Dept. in 1973 and started with the NAS Dallas Fire Dept. Jackie retired for medical reasons in 1987. He worked for Freeman Decorating Co. for 38 years as a part-time decorator. He continued his employment there until a stroke forced him to retire in 2004. Jackie accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1990 and was active in his church, Cornerstone Community Church. Until his medical condition prevented him from doing so, Jackie kept the lawn mowed for the church. He loved his family and church family very much. Jackie was preceded in death by his father in 1977. Survivors: wife, Theda Dollar of Springtown; daughters, Cathy Cavaness and husband, Dennis of Hendersonville, TN, Karen Mitchell and husband, Gary of McKinney; son, Johnny Dollar and wife, Julie of Richland Hills; grandsons, Zack and Brad Mitchell, Ricky Cavaness and Kyle Dollar; granddaughters, Melissa Stanley, Ashley Mitchell. mother, Inez Dollar of Springtown, and sister by choice, Darlene Morris.
