Bernell Holder

Bernell "Meme" Holder, 84, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 in Bedford. Funeral Service: Noon Wednesday, December 5 at Azle Church of Christ; Burial: Bishop Cemetery, Lipan; Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at White's Azle Funeral Home. Bernell was born March 21, 1923 in Santo to Aubrey and Fannie Haney. Meme's life centered around others. Her quiet Christian spirit and selfless attitude was obvious to all who knew her.She loved camping at Rock Creek and cheering on her favorite teams the Rangers, Cowboys and Mavericks. Meme never missed a game or event that her kids, Chelsa and Pat, participated in. She crocheted afghans until her fingers gave out, always giving one to every newborn at church. Meme's rolls were renown and requested at every church and family gathering. Her other specialities included homemade peach ice cream, berry cobblers and chocolate sheath cakes.Besides taking care of her sweet husband, G.C. and special children she doted on her three grandchildren, Ashlee, Brittany and Channing. Even getting up in the middle of the night to fix butter and sugar sandwiches. Meme can't be replaced, but her legacy will live on for generations to come. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.C.Holder in 2004, her parents and 12 brothers and sisters.In leiu of flowers donations can be made to the Tea Cup House, the residential home where Meme lived. Donations for The Tea Cup may be sent to the Azle Church of Christ, PO Box 226, Azle, TX 76098.Survivors: daughter, Chelsa Holder of Weatherford; son, Pat Holder of Las Colinas; daughter-in-law, Sandi Holder of Southlake; granddaughters, Ashlee Stites and husband, Jonathan of Keller, Brittany Polk and husband, Jeff of Colleyville and Channing Borecki and husband, Brian of Bedford; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Maggie Bell Haney of Temple and Willie Mae Holder of Mineral Wells; special friends Laura Bynum of Weatherford and Bev Hogg of Weatherford.
