Chubby Gene Maness

Chubby Gene Maness, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007 in Ft. Worth.Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2007 at White's Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove #1 Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Chubby was born May 17, 1929, the son of Arrie and Ruth Byers Maness in Springtown. He was a life long resident of Wise County. Mr. Maness was a huge sports fan and served as President of the Decatur Eagles Booster Club in 1970 and 1980. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Maness was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Ola; and three brothers.Survivors include, sons, James Maness and wife, Tiffany of Azle, Fred Allen of Springtown; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Valton Maness and Larry Maness, both of Springtown; and his faithful companion, "Shorty".
