John D. Gonsalves

On January 18, 2008 at the age of 89, John Gonsalves, a 39 year resident of Weatherford and charter member of Gospel Light Baptist Church of Mineral Wells, passed from this life.John was a World War II Veteran and Hero. He received thirteen medals including the Presidential Award, Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He served in the Seabee's, Army Air Corp. and the United States Air Force. John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; two daughters, Pat Allen and husband, Don of Weatherford and Teresa and husband, Pastor Larry Henson of NM; one grandson, Jason Allen of Weatherford; and one great-granddaughter, Mackinzie Allen of Weatherford. Also surviving is one sister, Sarah Glines of Westbridgewater, MA; a sister-in-law, Mary "Happy" McKee; and niece, Sherry McKee, who were loving caretakers; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.Funeral services are scheduled 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Gospel Light Baptist Church, Fort Wolters, Mineral Wells. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park, Weatherford. The family will receive guests 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.
