Rosemary Hudspeth Firmin, of Weatherford, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008 at her home surrounded by loving family following a brief battle with cancer.Adopted by the late Edward Veazie Hudspeth and Mary Crawford Hudspeth, Rosemary was born April 14, 1945 in Fort Bend County, Texas. She was reared in St. Landry Parrish of Rosa, LA. While attending Morrow High School, Rosemary was voted Cotton Festival Queen and was selected the 1963 Louisiana Sugar Bowl Queen. Rosemary attended the University of Southwest Louisiana and Louisiana State University, obtaining a teaching degree. Serving as a teacher from 1970 until her retirement in October 2007, Rosemary's career allowed her to have a positive effect on hundreds of students. Among her many passions, Rosemary loved cats and dogs, riding horses, and especially attending her grandchildren's sporting events.Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Veazie Hudspeth and Mary Crawford Hudspeth.Survivors include son, Richard Veazie Firmin and wife, Jennifer Diane of Brock; granddaughter, Victoria Rose Firmin; and grandson, Thomas Veazie Firmin of the home. Memorial services will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford.
