Floyd Dean Newberry, 81, of Mineral Wells went to be with his Lord andSavior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in MineralWells. Burial to follow in Newberry Cemetery. Visitation is from 6to 8 p.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. Floyd's life on this earth began on April 12, 1926. He was themiddle child of five children born to Leonard Franklin and ClanieAustin Newberry. He was a man of many trades; he was a masterelectrician, log home builder and nursing home administrator, buthis real calling in life was to preach the gospel and minister tothe needs of people and plant churches. During his life he workedfor Texas Power and Light, Docutel, Heritage Log Homes and severalnursing homes throughout Texas. He also pastored several churchesin Texas and Kansas. He was a graduate of Hardin Simmons Universityin Abilene, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in FortWorth. Floyd married Ersie Jean Clary of Lipan on July 25, 1947. Hewas a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells. Hewas well-known for his kind heart and giving spirit. Floyd servedin the U.S. Army during World War II as a communication specialist.He was preceded to heaven by his wife, Ersie; granddaughter, AmyLynn Archer; great-grandsons, Jackson and Jace Archer; his parents;one sister; and one brother. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Aleshia and Bill Pierceof Mineral Wells; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jan Newberryof Mineral Wells; grandsons, Brad Pierce and wife, Stacey, ofMineral Wells, Michael Pierce and wife, Erin, of Aledo, JoeyNewberry and wife, Paula, of Saginaw, Philip Newberry and wife,Larissa, of Austin, Erik Pierce of Fort Worth; granddaughter,Christen Pierce of Weatherford; great-grandsons, Jared Archer ofGroveton, Caleb, Mathew and Jordan Pierce of Mineral Wells, EthanPierce of Aledo and Mack Newberry of Saginaw; great-granddaughters,Savannah and Ashlyn Newberry of Saginaw; brothers, Leonard M.Newberry of Cool, Doug Newberry of Millsap; and sisters-in-law,Nell Crosier formerly of Mineral Wells and Melba Newberry ofFriendswood.
