Fancher S. Archer, 94, passed away Friday, February 29, 2008 at a local hospital. Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Azle Church of Christ. Burial: Ash Creek Cemetery. Viewing will be at the chruch from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday.Fancher was born in Hansford County June 3, 1913 to the late Samuel and Grace Upshaw Archer. He received his Business and Law Degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. Fancher practiced law in Amarillo, Austin, Rockport and Hale Center. He was a Judge and had been the Assistant Attorney General of Texas. Fancher was a Captain in the United States Air Corps. and a Veteran of World War II stationed in Calcutta. He loved to write stories and was a published author. Fancher also enjoyed music,line dancing and traveling the world. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Archer and sister, Blanche Fuller.Survivors: Leta Archer of Azle; sons, Sam Archer of Austin, Mel Archer of Azle, Guy Morton and wife, Tammi of Argyle, Michael Morton and wife, Carolyn of Azle and Mac S. Morton and wife, Pattie of Sulpher Springs; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
