Forest Bradley "Brad" Buford, 84, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at a local hospital. Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Burial: 11 a.m. Wednesday in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Sweetwater. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Forest Bradley Buford was born July 6, 1923, in Haskell, son of the late Samuel T. and Edith Ethel Lackey Buford. He honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Corps 8th Air Force 306th Bomb Group during World War II and received his discharge in 1946. Brad was stationed in Thurleigh, England, and was a gunner on a B-17. Brad was a graduate of Haskell High School and Texas A&M University, where he majored in civil engineering. He made his career with the Texas Highway Department for 20 years and was a supervising resident engineer, retiring as consulting engineer in 1985. Brad was an avid reader and enjoyed golf. He married the former Jean Conner in Haskell on May 22, 1949. Brad was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford for many years. Brad was preceded in death by his son, Forest Buford Jr.; parents; brother, Ray; sisters, Mauvoreen, Madeline and Clara. Survivors: Wife, Jean Buford of Weatherford; daughter, Ann Buford Stephenson and husband, J.D. of Houston; many nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family members and friends.
