SPRINGTOWN -- John Marvin Dewberry, 100, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Springtown, 500 North Main Street, Springtown. Burial: Little Bethel Memorial Park, 1803 Cedar Hill Road, Duncanville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, Springtown. The youngest of 11 children, John Marvin Dewberry was born Jan. 26, 1908, in Rosebud, son of the late Christopher Augustus and Jesse Elizabeth Williams Dewberry. He had been a resident of Springtown since 1975 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Springtown for more than 20 years. Mr. Dewberry loved to travel, enjoyed gardening, and fishing was his hobby. He was still driving a week prior to his passing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1984; grandson, Jason Dewberry, in 1990; daughter; parents; and all siblings. Survivors: Sons, Marvin Lee Dewberry and wife, Neva, of Oklahoma City, Okla., James E. Dewberry and wife, Janet, of Leavenworth, Kan., Wilburn A. Dewberry and wife, Lorna, of Hoschton, Ga., Jimmy L. Dewberry and wife, LaRue, of Mount Pleasant, Michael S. Dewberry and wife, Wauneice, of De Queen, Ark.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
