Marlyn Vernell Hawkins, 73, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2008 in Fort Worth. Visitation: 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. Tuesday, June 22, 2008 at White's Azle Funeral Home. Graveside Memorial Service: 9:30 A.M. Monday, June 30th at New Hope Cemetery. Marlyn was born October 16, 1934 in Quanah to George and Willia Hawkins. He was very involved in his community. Marlyn was former mayor of Pelican Bay and was recently reelected to the Pelican Bay City Council. He was a very hard worker and loved everything he did including golf and bowling. His family was his pride and joy and he loved them very much. Marlyn was a wonderful, loving and generous man. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Marlyn was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 27 years, Elmina Hawkins, daughter, Patricia White and son, Gary McBroom. Survivors: children, Marla Ann Hawkins, John Hawkins, Ruth Burch,Charles "Buster" McBroom and wife, Melodie; grandchildren, Joseph Siegel and wife, Crystal, Jennifer Finchum and husband, Jason, Billy Ellis and wife, Chelsea, Tiffany McBroom, Brandi and Patrick Miller; great-grandchildren, Brooke Siegel, Ashleigh Finchum, Lilly Siegel, Keelly Finchum, Nathen and Susanna Siegel, Jaden Ellis; brother, Jimmy Hawkins; cousins, Charlotte Blair and Sharon Brandon; long time friend "Aunt Sis" Lenora Love; and extended family and friends.
