SPRINGTOWN -- Shirley Butler, 72, a 55 year resident of Springtown, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at a Fort Worth care facility. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Hilltop Family Church, 1227 Old Cottondale Road, Springtown. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 401 North Main Street, Springtown. Shirley Ann Butler was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Roscoe, daughter of John Henry and Estell Richard Hudgins. Shirley was always there for her family to provide guidance and support no matter the need. Family was number one in her life. Shirley taught her family that through God all things are possible and her children have passed that on to their children. Shirley was a member of Hilltop Family Church for eight years. Shirley loved to cook and was, in fact, considered the family chef. Her dressing and dumplings on Thanksgiving were considered to be the best. Shirley also loved to shop. She was very energetic and known to have a spicy personality. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Butler; infant son, James Henry Butler; father; and sister, Martha Davis. Survivors: Daughters, Jackie Clifton and husband, Joel, of The Woodlands and Brenda Daily of Southlake; sons, Rip Butler and wife, Sonja, of Rhome, and Ty Butler and wife, Ruby, of Springtown; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; mother, Estell Hudgins of Fort Worth; brothers, Billy John Hudgins and wife, Sue, of Burleson; Gene Hudgins and wife, Shirley, of Abilene; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
