SPRINGTOWN -- Mike Medford, 52, chief of the Springtown Fire Department, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at his residence in Springtown. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 500 N. Main St., Springtown. Interment: Veal Station Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown. Mike Medford was born Aug. 27, 1956, in Fort Worth, the son of R.O. and Anna Medford. Mike was with the Springtown Fire Department for 36 years, working his way to chief, where he served for 11 years. Mike's life was all about his family, the fire department, John Wayne and sci-fi books. He taught his three girls that family is what life is all about. Mike received the majority of his formal firefighter education at Weatherford College. Mike moved to Springtown from Fort Worth in 1965. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors: Daughters, Jennifer Medford, Wendie Ford and fiance, Shane Patrick, and Misty Long and husband, Elijah, all of Springtown; grandchildren, Briana Medford, Kaleb Patrick, Kaden Humason, Logan Ford, Montana Long, Emrie Long and a soon-to-be-born grandchild; mother, Anna Medford Bates of Springtown; father, R.O. Medford and wife, Rose, of Burleson; sister, Margaret Bridges of Azle; nephew, Jody Bridges and wife, Breanne, of Minnesota; niece, Kristi Alverson and husband, Dave, of Florida; and an extended family of loving firefighters and friends.
