Bobbie Joe Byrd, 71, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at his residence. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Monday in Long Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at White's Weatherford Funeral Home. Bobbie Byrd was born March 9, 1937, in Young County, the son of the late Marion Monroe and Lottie Lee Cox Byrd. He married JoAnn Hicks, Nov. 25, 1955, in Albany. Bobbie was owner and operator of a power line construction business, and a rancher and farmer. He was a Mason and a Knight of Pythias. Bobbie enjoyed hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, and especially loved to spend time with his grandsons. He was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers and his parents. Survivors: Wife, JoAnn Byrd; sons, Larry Byrd and wife, Sara, Robert Byrd; grandchildren, Larry Byrd Jr. and wife, Jennifer, and James Byrd; great-grandson, Calvin Wolf; sister, Reba Lane, all of Weatherford; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.
