Dee Woody, a longtime resident of Parker County, passed away November 18, 2008 at a Ft. Worth hospital.Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22, at Veal Station Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 21, at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Poolville Methodist Church or to Manna of Weatherford.She was born Dolores Jeannette Larson in Baudette, Minnesota , on August 18, 1926. After graduating from high school in Baudette, Dee received training as a teletype operator and moved to California, where she worked for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad during World War II. She married William A. Woody, Jr. on May 26, 1945 in San Bernardino, California. After the war, Dee returned with William to his home state of Texas, where they lived and raised their family in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.In 1962, Dee became owner of Hurst Hills Private School, a pre-school and kindergarten, which she operated until 1974. She was active in the Texas Licensed Child Care Association. She and her family were members of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Hurst, where Dee served in Christian education and on other boards and committees.She and W. A., an institutional salesman for White Swan Foods, moved to the Peaster area in 1974. Dee served on the Parker County Committee on Aging, and for many years as a volunteer at Campbell Memorial Hospital. W. A. died in 1992, and she ran successfully to fill his unexpired term on the Hospital Board. Dee served in this capacity for over a decade. She continued as a hospital volunteer until shortly before her death.Dee was an active member of Poolville United Methodist Church, where she served as church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and enthusiastic participant in the Church's annual Lord's Acre Harvest Festivals.She is preceded in death by her husband, W. A. Woody, Jr.; brother, Jack Larson; and sister, Marlynne Larson Brown.Dee is survived by her three loving children, Karen Bonner and Craig Woody, both of Peaster, and Nancy Johnson of Sachse; she was beloved "Grammy" to seven grandchildren, Nathan Sanders of Abilene, Stephanie Bonner of Peaster, Valerie Powell of Natchitoches, LA, Chad Woody of Weatherford, Carrie Holzberger of Keller, Reagan Morrow of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Cason Woody of Peaster; and her delightful three grandsons, Gage Morrow, Jacob Holzberger, and Benjamin Holzberger.
