WEATHERFORD -- Rufus G. Sipe, 82, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, in Weatherford. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford. Burial: East Greenwood Cemetery, Front and Mill Streets, Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Sipe family requests memorials in Rufus' name to Grace First Presbyterian Church, 606 Mockingbird Lane, Weatherford, Texas 76086. Rufus George Sipe was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Graham, son of the late Rufus Isaac and Mildred Irene Laird Sipe. Rufus married the former Bernice Marie George in Graham on Aug. 22, 1946. They were residents of Weatherford since 1966 and members of Grace First Presbyterian Church. Rufus made his career with Southern Airways as an inspector and retired after many years of service. Rufus honorably served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Buck Sergeant. Rufus was preceded in death by his son, Gary Sipe; parents; and brother, B.D. Sipe. Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Bernice Sipe; daughter, Mitzi Maxfield and husband, Wade; grandson, David Maxfield and wife, Sarah; granddaughter, Chery Fikes and husband, Wesley, all of Weatherford; sister-in-law Marylen Sipe of Graham; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends that will keep fond memories in their heart.
