Betty Carlton, 76, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009. Services: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at White's Funeral Home Betty Carlton was born in Petrolia on October 22, 1932 the daughter of Willie and Ruth Bennett Phillips. She had been a resident of the Weatherford area since 1976. Betty met Marion Carlton at Wayland Baptist College in Plainview and they were happily married for 57 years. She was a member of North Side Baptist Church for 32 years where she worked as an assistant secretary. Betty enjoyed visiting with Homebound Ministries and was employed at Citizens National Bank. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Kenneth and Jerry Phillips. Survivors include her husband, Marion Carlton; daughter, Leah Morris and husband, George of Azle; son, Phillip Carlton of Weatherford; grandchildren, John Morris, Nathan Morris, Kallie Carlton; sisters, Joann Cotten, Edith Scudder; sister-in-law, Theo Phillips; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
