William Ray Pennington

William Ray Pennington, 84,loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in Azle. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle. Internment: 2:00 P.M. in Joy Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at White's Azle Funeral Home. Bill was born July 14, 1924 in the town of Joy to Clay and Lillie Lucas Pennington. He was a longtime resident of Azle and an avid wood craftsman. Bill honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Col. Henry Clay Pennington and sisters, Mary Ruth Pennington Bridges and Dortha Mae Pennington Henderson. Survivors include his loving wife, Carole E. Pennington; daughter Sandra Lee Smith, sons, Jerry Wayne Pennington and wife, Janice, and Jim Ray Pennington and wife, Jo Ellen; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
