SPRINGTOWN -- Robert A. "Bob" Holmes went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday in Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to Brothers of the Third Wheel, HC-71, Box 183-5, Ava, Mo. 65608. Bob was born Aug. 3, 1943, in Alabama. He came to Texas in 1949 and had resided in Springtown since 1964. He was a member of the armed forces and was honorably discharged in 1963. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to many. Before retiring in 2001, he owned and operated H&H Steel with his brother Frank for 23 years. In his retirement he found a passion for building and riding trikes and loved to be on the road. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his sons. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Sr. and Pearl Holmes; and his siblings, Terry, Opal, Karen and Ronald.
