Billy Ray Holeman was found deceased in his home in Pelican Bay on Sunday,Oct. 18, 2009. He was born in Seminole, Okla on Feb. 21, 1929, he grew up in Crescent, Okla. Billy joined the United States Navy Sept. 5, 1947. Attached to the 8th Marines 2nd Mar. Div. at Camp Lejeune, NC, he served as a hospital corpsman, completing duties of a hospital technician, physical therapist and field medic. After Honorable Discharge on Sept. 6, 1951, he worked as a finance officer in the Central Texas region and El Paso, then as President of CES Mortgage in Dallas. In the late 1980's, he and his wife were the owner operators of Popcorn Pantry in Flagstaff, Ariz. He returned to Texas to retire, living first in Hurst, and finally in Pelican Bay. At the time of his death, he was retired.Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sarah Holeman; son, Billy Ray Holeman, Jr.; daughter, Lisa H. Ellis; and granddaughter, Bethena Brosz.Survivors: wife, Betty Jo Holeman of Pelican Bay; brother, Donald Holeman of Infield, Conn.; sister, Alice McKaig of Carrollton; daughter, Carol H. Enloe of Corpus Christi; son, Jonathan E. Holeman; daughter, Janet Shires and husband, Terry of Tioga; son, Randy Bonney and wife, Theresa of Hurst; grandchildren, Kara Lopez and her husband, Jacob of Corpus Christi, Marcia Lewis of Denton, Tracy Shires of Denton, Alicia Cole and her husband, Hunter of Kelleen; and five great-grandchildren.
