FORT WORTH -- Carla Sumner, 58, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, in Arlington. Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Azle Ward, 1010 Timberoaks Drive, Azle. Interment: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown. Carla Joan Sumner was born Aug. 16, 1951, in Bellaire, Mich., daughter of the late Versile Ray and Sandra Jean Smith Johnson. A former resident of Springtown, Carla lived in Fort Worth for 10 years with her husband, Ben, whom she married in 1983. She loved her family and was a phenomenal decorator. Carla also loved to crochet and was a computer guru. Carla was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Kathy Johnson and Cynthia Gober. Survivors: Husband of 26 years, Ben Sumner of Fort Worth; son, Robert Winters of Arlington; daughter, Susan Winters of Austin; son, John Winters of North Carolina; grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Emma and John; stepchildren, Pam Ellis of Carrollton and Ben Sumner of Fort Worth; sister, Cheryl Johnson of Fort Worth; brothers, Duane Johnson of Haltom City and Alan Johnson of Fort Worth; sister, Janice Comacho of Haltom City; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
