Master Chief Robert "Bob" F. Thompson, 73, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009.Service: 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, Oct. 27 at United Methodist Church in Palo Pinto. Interment: Palo Pinto Cemetery.Bob was born July 14, 1936 in Fort Worth to Ada Thelma Townsend and Lucian Emmett Thompson. He spent his first five years living in Metcalf Gap at the Cantey bus station. His family moved to Weatherford when he was five and lived there until he graduated in 1954 and joined the United States Navy. He retired in 1974 after a 20 year career with the rank of Master Chief.He married Barbara Ann Wood in 1955 and they had three children. After his Navel service he worked as an engineer for Hughs Aircraft until 1982. Bob then came back to Palo Pinto where he was active with the Palo Pinto School Board, the United Methodist church, Palo Pinto Lodge 1404, Fort Worth Scottish Rite, Moslah Temple, Brazos Valley Scottish Rite Club and Palo Pinto Shrine Club. He served as Master of the Lodge.Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann Thompson; son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Karen Thompson of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Lucia Thompson of Eaton, Colo.; 4 grandchildren, Chris, Trevor, Barbara and Sara; and two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Caelan.
