Bruce F. Stewart, 91, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009. Bruce was born April 21, 1918, the son of the late John Faris and Lee Morris Stewart in Corpus Christi. He grew up and graduated from high school in Palestine. He was a long time resident of Weatherford. Bruce was an avid golfer and bridge player and he enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. Bruce honorably served his country with the 7th Cavalry during World War II and was honorably discharged as Major. He initially was a Forester with the Texas Forest Service, later became a Real Estate Appraiser with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and ultimately operated his private appraisal practice. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Diana Franks and Vivian Lindsey; brother, Jack; and son, Mark. Survivors include his wife, Naomi Stewart of Weatherford; son, Michael Stewart and wife, Karen, of Plano; daughters, Ann Runge and husband, Bruce, of Arizona, and Tamara Reynolds and husband, Don, of Wisconsin; grandchildren, John Stewart and wife, Lauren, Steven, Brian, Carlton, Preston and MacKenzie; great-granddaughter, Sophie; brothers-in-law, Charles Donnell and wife, Barbara, of Azle, Tom Donnell and wife, Regina, of Lakeside; and sisters-in-law, Marian Vandergriff of Azle, Jane Stevenson and husband, Gene, of Azle; and a host of loving family and friends. A visitation and memorial service will be held at Noon Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in the Fellowship Hall of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, 802 N. Elm St., Weatherford. A private burial will be held in Palestine.
