John Wesley Chilcutt, Jr, 56, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 embraced by the warmth and love of his family in Austin, TX after a long tenuous battle with diabetes and end-stage renal disease.Memorial service: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at White's Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N. Main Street, Springtown, Texas.John was born July 14, 1953 in Springtown, TX to Jane and John Chilcutt. He is survived by his sister, Debra Chilcutt, his Uncle Bo and Aunt Ann, his Uncle Wendy and Aunt Ramona.He lived in Austin, Texas with his loving wife, Penny from Westlake, Ohio and four children: Greg Coseriu and wife Emily, Allizon Coseriu, Marc Coseriu, Stephanie Murray and husband Scott. He dearly loved his grand-daughter, Isabella Marie and was excited about his future grand-daughter due in March. John had an easy-going demeanor and truly appreciated the simple things in life. He had a generous heart, was patient and kind. He was known for being a good listener and was always non-judgmental. His greatest joy was being with his family. His primary goal in life was to keep his family around him, provide for them, and bestow the value of his life experiences. He was a Christian man who possessed a strong moral compass that he used to help guide all who knew him. He felt most at peace when surrounded by nature. He had a fond love and appreciation of scenic Lake Travis and spent many afternoons unwinding while feeding the ducks. John had a strong bond with his furry canine friends Puff, Miller, Hanz, Fredo and Mischa. John had a wealth of knowledge and many interests including music, cartoons, sports, traveling, cooking, live performances, science fiction, and technology. John attended UT of Arlington and worked as an engineer, systems analyst and solutions architect for multiple companies. He began his career with Reynolds & Reynolds, a software house specializing in automobile dealership management applications. At Reynolds & Reynolds, John was involved in contract negotiations with Microsoft's Bill Gates and in technical software development.John joined Tandem Computers in 1984 as an analyst in the Dallas office. He provided technical guidance, support, and direction to Tandem's Texas-area customers. In 1986, he moved into Tandem's new Third Party Marketing organization as the Southern Region's first analyst. While working in Third Party Marketing, John handled large, sensitive account problems for the region and managed projects involving high risk and high dollar values-always to a successful conclusion.While working with Texas Instruments, John developed expertise in telephony applications. He was so knowledgeable that Sprint relied on him for technical guidance and forecasting with respect to technology and industry trends. As a result of that expertise, he was promoted to a technical leadership role in Tandem's telephony applications group and moved to Cupertino, California for two years. After returning from California, he was the senior telephony technical consultant for all of Compaq Computers Professional Services, which acquired Tandem Computers and ultimately became Hewlett Packard where he worked as a Senior Solutions Architect. John dedicated his entire career to the technology industry. His commitment to success was for both his customers and his colleagues. His warm support of peers and friends impressed all who worked with him or who were fortunate to know him.His Austin area family and friends honored him on Dec. 13th with a gathering to celebrate his life. Contributions were made to the American Kidney Foundation.
