Ruth E. Jones Wilkerson

The angels came for Eddie Ruth Wilkerson, 91, at home Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday at Brock United Methodist Church, 127 Lazy Bend Road, Brock. Interment: Brock Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford. Ruth was born January 7, 1918 daughter of the late George and Ada Dent Jones in Brock. She was a long time member of Brock United Methodist Church. Ruth loved her church. She taught Sunday School and was one of three members who kept the Church from closing. She was a life time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, chapter #274. Ruth and Herman owned and operated the General Country Store in Brock. They helped many families with food during hard times, Mom wanted to help everyone. Ruth was store manager of Montgomery Wards in Weatherford for 27 years, retiring in 1985. She was preceded in death by her mom, Ada Jones King and dad, George Jones; husband of 67 years, Herman Lee Wilkerson; son-in-law, B.L. Freeman; sister, Willie Jean Hull. Survivors include daughter, Jo Ann Freeman of Brock; grandson, Danny Lee Freeman of Ft. Worth; granddaughter, Deanna Ruth Brabson and husband, Allen; great-granddaughters, Joanna Ruth and Janalee Renee Brabson of Brock; sister, Fern Jones of Brock; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
