Orene Hodge

Orene Hodge, 84, joined Heavens angels on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009. Services: 11:00 a.m., Thursday at North Side Baptist Church. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the North Side Baptist Church building fund. Orene Hodge was born September 19, 1925 in Vera, daughter of the late, Solomon and Bera Murphree. She was a life long resident of Weatherford. Mrs. Hodge had been a member of North Side Baptist Church for 60 years. She taught 2nd grade Sunday School Class and was a member of the Foundation Singers. Mrs. Hodge was an active member of the Evergreen Club. Orene and her husband, Alvin owned and operated, Hodge Implement, Hodge Feed and Grain and Hodge Furniture for over 40 years. She retired from Bealls Department Store. Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Clay Hodge, Jr in 1990; sisters, Clota Clinton and Verna Belle Grimes. Survivors, children, Douglas Clay Hodge and wife, Debbie of San Angelo, Ronald Ray Hodge and wife, Teresa of Richardson, Mark Dwayne Hodge and wife, Karen of Weatheford, Carolyn Ann Williams of Weatherford and Janie Ellon Morton and husband, James of Spring; brother, Kenneth Murphree and wife, Nadeen; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces, nephews, church members and friends.
