WEATHERFORD -- Loran Henry Thomas, 88, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, surrounded by family at home. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Victory Baptist Church, 1311 East Bankhead Drive, Weatherford. Dr. Charles Wetherbee will officiate. Burial: Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford. Memorials: In keeping with Loran's wishes, the Thomas family requests memorials in Loran's name be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, Mass. 01202. Loran Henry Thomas was born May 10, 1921, in Shawnee, Okla., the oldest son of the late John Clay and Irma Leon Bennett Thomas and grew up in Castro County. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II and was discharged in 1945 at El Paso. Loran married the former Nellie Faye Casler and together they raised Lora, Linda, and Tommy in Albuquerque, N.M. Loran and Faye moved to Weatherford in 1970 and he retired from the FAA after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Loran was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Faye Casler Thomas, in 2001; sisters, Aline Stephenson, Judy Prickett, Kathleen Casler, and Jane Burns; and brothers, Roland and Glen Thomas. Survivors: Daughters, Lora Faye Loch and Linda Joyce Reeder and husband, David Reeder, both of Weatherford; son, Tommy Loran Thomas of Denton; grandchildren, Jenna Adams and husband, Alan, Courtnay Loch, Cari Reeder, Katie Reeder, Andy Reeder, Ian Thomas; great-grandson, Colby; sisters, Nanette Williams of Fort Worth, Peggy Boyd of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Doris Denham of Quanah; many nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
