WEATHERFORD -- Mary Alvis Broyles, 93, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday evening, February 17,2010 in Weatherford. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Central Christian Church in Weatherford. Burial: private cemetery in Woodson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 19th at White's Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Central Christian Church Memorial Fund in Weatherford. Ms. Broyles was born in House, New Mexico on February 12, 1917. She was an avid gardener and was loved for her cooking. In fact she was known as the "Divinity Queen" for her wonderful candy. She loved children and was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Ms. Broyles was always willing to help anyone in need with her cooking and loving support. Even though she lost her sight in her mid-eighties, she continued to participate in church activities. She was an active member of the Christian Women's Fellowship at the Central Christian Church until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wood Broyles in 2001 and her parents, William and Georgia Lilly. Survivors: Sons, Tom Broyles and wife Beverely, of Burleson and Wayne Broyles and wife, Dewlene, of Weatherford; daughter, Chloe Bear and husband, Jim of St. Louis, Mo; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
