AZLE -- Jeff Summers, 77, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010, in Azle. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Ash Creek Baptist Church, 300 South Stewart St., Azle. Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home, 105 Denver Trail, Azle. Billy Jeff Summers was born June 5, 1932, in Wortham, the only son and youngest of two children, to the late Robert Lee and Ginny Griffin Moore Summers. With honor and great dignity, he served his country in the United States Air Force and was discharged in 1955. Jeff married the former Anna Mae Richardson on June 7, 1962, in Weatherford and they began their life together. Jeff was a barber at Hukill's Barber Shop on Main Street in Azle for 10 years before starting a lengthy career at Bell Helicopter in the transmission shop. He retired after 28 faithful years of service. Jeff was a member of Ash Creek Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Thelma Linehan. Survivors: Wife of 47 years, Anna Summers of Azle; sons, Art Johnson and wife, Cynthia, of Reno, Charles Johnson and wife, Dianne, of Boyd and Phil Summers of Ardmore, Okla.; daughter, Annette; grandchildren, Stan, Jana, Craig, Andrea, Kristin, Heath, Hollie, Nicole and Rowdy; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Fred Linehan of Mineral Wells; sisters-in-law, Oletha Oldham of Saginaw, Alice Schwengler of Saginaw and Dora Hobgood of Dallas; and a host of loving family and friends.
