SPRINGTOWN -- Leonard McPherson, 81, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Walnut Creek Baptist Church, 220 W. Reno Rd., Azle. Burial: Jaybird Cemetery, Springtown. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown. Leonard Lamar McPherson was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Houma, La., the second of four children to Monroe and Minnie Louise McPherson. He married the former Ouida Fay Woods in Marshall on Nov. 24, 1954, and they started their life together. Leonard honorably served his country in the United States Army and made his career as a truck driver for the railroad. He was a longtime member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church and a former member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Farming and gardening were two of Leonard's most loved hobbies. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother; brother; and two sisters. Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Ouida McPherson of Springtown; sons, Matthew McPherson and wife, Gina, of Cottondale, and Robert McPherson of Springtown; daughter, Tina McPherson of Springtown; grandchildren, Conner, Tyler, and Kathy; sister, Loretta M.
