Marie Berkley Scherer

Marie Berkley Scherer, 85, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 7th, 2010.Funeral: 11am Monday, May 10th at Calvary Methodist Church in Weatherford, Texas. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery, also in Weatherford, Texas.Visitation: 4-6 pm Sunday at White's Funeral Home.Donations honoring her memory may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 210 Garner Rd., Weatherford, Texas 76086.Marie was born September 11, 1924 in Weatherford, Texas. After graduating from Weatherford High School, she married the love of her life, Winfred Scherer, and remained married until her death. They bought a farm, moved in and have enjoyed their life there for 64 years. Marie had an eclectic and colorful work history during her life including farming, dairy farming, electrical work on B-16s during WWII, Southern Airways employee during the Vietnam War, and became a cosmetologist in 1954. Throughout this time, she was a wonderful and loving mother to her three daughters.Survivors: Husband, Winfred H. Scherer, Daughters: Faye Glover of Weatherford, Winnie West and companion Dennis Moser of Dallas, Louise Curtice and husband Jim of Houston, Grandchildren: Donna Glover, Tony West and David Glover, Great-grandchildren: Jayme, Kelsey, Jourdan and Travis Glover, Siblings: Margaret Boteler and Eugene Berkley and numerous other loving relatives and friends.Marie will always be remembered by all for her loving nature, her great country cooking, and her strong Christian faith.
