Joel "Cigar" Arnold McFalls, 74, died June 21, 2010 in Irving.Memorial Services will be held Friday at 1pm. June 25, 2010, at White'sSpringtown Funeral Home.Joel was born May 7, 1936 in Star City, Ark, son of the late James Claude and OralE. Blair McFalls. He served in the United States Marine Corp. Joel was a staple at Boyd raceway for many years and was known as "Cigar" by his friends there and here in town. He raced for many years at Green Valley Raceway and Santa Anita, in California. Joel then decided drag racing was to dangerous and decided to start racing motorcycles. He went Pro in that sport until a serious injury in Russellville, Ark on July 4 weekend in 1972. Joel decided to settle down and open a motorcycle repair shop and continued that until he retired. The only thing he loved more than racing was his dogs. You would have never seen him in town without Rockie, his beloved weenie dog. He even drove from Irving just to adopt Odie from the Springtown animal shelter after reading about him in the paper. Joel loved his dogs more than life.Mr. McFalls was preceded in death by his father, James "Mac", and his mother, Oral E. McFalls.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol of Irving; brother, Donald McFalls of Mesquite; children, Connie Jo McFalls of Irving, Catherine Marshall of Colorado Springs, CO., Elizabeth Jones and husband, Colley, Savannah, Mike McFalls and wife, Suzanne of Tacoma, Wa., Ginger Farris and husband, Howard of Springtown; grandchildren, Josephand Stephen Whitehead, Chris Jones, April Summers, Kristy Lunsford, SPC. DanielHerron, Heather Brown, and Tyler "Bucky" Farris; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
