Margaret Marie Welch

Margaret "Marie" Welch, 79, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends on Friday, July 9, 2010. Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 12 at The First Baptist Church of Azle,1017 Boyd Road, Azle. Interment: Azleland Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at White's Azle Funeral Home. Marie was born February 25, 1931 in Olney. She retired from the Azle and Westover Hills Police Departments after a 20 year career, including being the first female street officer in Tarrant and Parker Counties. She graduated from Azle High School in 1949. Marie volunteered at the Azle Museum, could often be found working outside in one of her beautiful flower gardens and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Azle. Marie went home to be with the Lord and rejoin with her husband of 59 years, Thomas Wayne Welch and her sons, Stacy Wayne and Thomas DeLynn Welch. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrell Hartwig and husband, Jim of Azle; grandsons, Wes ODonald and wife, Cresia of Azle, Quinton ODonald of Azle and Jason Welch of Lufkin; and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Couper, Zach and Allison ODonald.
