George Looney passed away peacefully Monday July 12, 2010. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Springtown. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday night at White's Funeral Home in Springtown. Mr. Looney was born in Alamo, Texas July 23, 1930 to Finis and Wilma Looney. He spent his adult life in Springtown. Before he moved to Springtown in 1945 as a Freshman in High School, he had attended 21 different schools, being the son of a road construction manager and moving many, many times. His mother said they moved so many times his 6th grade year, she had to fill out his report card to enroll him in school. George was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his wife traveled extensively in their motorhome, visiting each state in the continental United States. George dearly loved his family. He was a retired tool and dye maker from Bell Helicopter. He is greatly loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and Finis Looney (Granny Bill and Papa), his sister Mary Bradshaw and his beloved grandson, Jason Martin. Survivors include: His wife of 60 years, Dorothy; daughters Kathy Phillips and her husband James, Terry Gilmore and her husband Gary, Tammy Leatherwood and her husband Wayne; two granddaughters, Kelley Walden and her husband, Scott and Jacey Leatherwood; three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Cameron and Cager Walden; and a host of friends and relatives.
