WEATHERFORD -- Merle Morris, 76, loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2010. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Thursday in Tin Top Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the Morris family suggests donations in Merle's name to Mary's Brazos Cafe, 5090 Tin Top Road, Weatherford, Texas 76087. Merle Morris, the youngest of three children, was born Aug. 21, 1934, in Hopkins County, son of the late George Willis and Josie Lou Lawson Parker. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Merle married the former Carolyn Lake in Waco on Oct. 17, 1997, and they began their life together. He was retired from professional bull riding and heavy equipment operations after many years of service. Merle enjoyed coffee and visiting with his friends at Mary's Brazos Cafe every morning, without fail. He was devoted to his grandchildren and loved his two Corgi dogs. Merle was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bobbie Ballard; and aunt, Maydell Smothers. Survivors: Wife, Carolyn Morris of Weatherford; children, Jeanette Edwards of Weatherford, Wayne Morris and wife, Holly, of The Colony, and Laura Morris of Midwest City, Okla.; step-children, Tina Skeens and husband, Danny, of Comanche, Okla., and Tammy Dennis and husband, Kenny, of Celina, Ohio; grandchildren, Brendon, Allie, Tanner, Morgan, Meghan, Kyla, Kevin, and Carolann, Angel and Blake; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Neveah, and Quinton; brother, Billy Morris of Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
