John Burt passed from this life to a better one on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at South Main Church of Christ, 201 South Main Street, Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford. John was born in Seminole, Okla., on Nov. 3, 1934, but lived his adult life in Fort Worth, until moving to Weatherford eight years ago. He was a member of South Main Church of Christ in Weatherford, where he was lovingly known to all the children as Mr. John, "the sucker man". John retired from a teaching career in 1995 and enjoyed retirement taking care of his goats. He also enjoyed woodcarving and was a member of the Wood Chippers in Weatherford. John loved the time he had to spend with his friends and was fortunate to have many. John was loyal and kind and had a great sense of humor. He was a man of faith and family and he lived a life that honored others. John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carlene, and their daughter, Laura Minchew and husband, Alan, of Tennessee, and son, Greg Burt and wife, Judy, of Weatherford. He was also the very proud Papa to his four grandchildren, Kate and Grant Minchew and Sadie and Wesley Burt. John is also survived by sisters, Kathy Barham of Weatherford, Joy McGehee and husband, Joe, of Garber, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.Services are in care ofWhite's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
