WEATHERFORD -- John Allen Smith, 65, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, in Weatherford. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford. John Allen Smith was born April 12, 1945, in Bugtown, Ind., son of Albert Anderson and Marybelle Elsie Ehrhart Smith. John was born at home because he wanted to be close to his mother. He was married to the former Sylvia Ann "Pick" Harden for nearly 45 years prior to her passing in 2008. John made his career in the oil and gas business. He retired and loved his life on the "River". John was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia "Pick" Smith in 2008; a son, JB Smith in 2007; a grandson, Austin in 2002; and his father. Survivors: Daughter, Michelle Barnett and husband, Bart, of Poolville; son, Thurmon Smith and Meagan Barnes of Weatherford; grandchildren, BJ, Josh, Chris, Bart Jr., Tas, Colton, Shelbi, and Haley; great-grandchildren, Riley, John Allen Smith IV, Kristen, and Hayden; mother, Marybelle Gaddis and husband, Harold; brother, Albert Smith and wife, Dorothy; sister, Elsie Underwood and husband, Frank, all of Odessa; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
