WEATHERFORD -- W.R. Nix, 75, longtime resident of Weatherford, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at his home. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens of the Valley Memorial Park, 5600 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Nix family suggests contributions in W.R.'s memory to Covenant Hospice, 3221 Collinsworth St., Suite 160, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. W.R. Nix was born Feb. 3, 1935, in Ackerly, son of the late Collin Clifton and Lela Irene Caldwell Nix. W.R. was a former member of Tarrant Bird Hunters and Bird Dog Field Trials of Texas. In addition to his love of the outdoors and fishing, he also loved country and western music and playing bass guitar. W.R. made his career as Vice President of Operations for City Center Development. W.R. was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jo Nix, on July 29, 2010; his parents; two brothers; and a sister. Survivors: Children, Ricky Nix of Weatherford and Sheryle Nix Wright and husband, Jim, of Decatur; grandchildren, Chris Smith and wife, Christie, of Saginaw, and Kyle Nix of Weatherford; sisters, Faye Thorpe, Bonnie Allred and Linda DeWaters; brother, Richard Nix; cousin, Victor Moore of Azle; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous step-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.
