Lela Faye Myre

WEATHERFORD -- Lela Myre, 83, passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to E.B. and Lela Myre Endowed Scholarship at Baylor University, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Lela was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Cumby to the late William Asa and Frances Lorena Duncan Boyd and grew up in Pittsburg. She loved the Baptist Church, music and Baylor University where she was executive secretary to the president. Lela and her beloved husband, E.B., enjoyed all facets of Baylor activities and life where he served in various capacities. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford. Lela was preceded in death by her husband of 50-plus years, E.B., and five siblings. Survivors: Lela is survived by her daughter, Sherry Clinton and husband, Jerry; son, Derek Myre; granddaughters, Amber and Lauren; grandson, Zachary; brother, T.W. Boyd and wife, Virginia; niece, Jane Russell Newsom and husband, David and their children, Laura, Colin and families; nephew, Jim Barton and wife, Bobbie; other extended family, Marshall McWaters, brother, Michael and Mother, Tina and special friend, Miriam Lambert. She was surrounded by many administrators and staff at City View Care Center where she had resided for the last seven and a half years. Some of these include, Eric, Matt, Betty, Cassie, Christine, Nora, Thomas, Yolanda and a host of friends who are residents.
