Terry Everett (Pop) Thomason, 68, passed away on November 11, 2010 in Azle, Texas.Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 15th at First Baptist Church of AledoInurnment: DFW National Cemetery in Dallas at a later date.Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, 105 Denver Trail, Azle.Mr. Thomason was born on August 18, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Edward and Ruth Thomason. He was raised by his maternal grandparents. From an early age Terry had a love of carpentry and enjoyed building anything he could. As a grandfather, he became a master woodworker and his homemade gifts were some of his grandchildren's favorites.Mr. Thomason served in the United States Navy during Vietnam as a yeoman on the USS Scamp and the USS Permit. Terry was extremely patriotic and very proud to be a veteran of the Armed Services.Mr. Thomason also spent many years serving as a deputy sheriff in both Southern California and Northern Idaho. Terry always considered himself a peace officer no matter what job he held. He was also a proud graduate of the University of Idaho.More than anything though, Terry was proud of his family. He loved his grandkids more than life itself. There was never anything he wouldn't do for them. Pop, as he was called by all, spent most weekends sitting at various sporting events to support each of them.Mr. Thomason is survived by his wife, Karen Thomason; two daughters and their spouses, Kim and Marc McCluer, of Aledo, Jennifer and Craig Hogeland, of Aurora; and five grandchildren, Jake and Josh McCluer, of Aledo, Mackinley Dyess, Alex and Ella Hogeland, of Aurora.
