Mildred May Boyd Cotten Chandler

d. November 25, 2010

Mildred Boyd Cotten Chandler was born in Salesville, TX in Palo Pinto County on December 21, 1920. She went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2010. As a child she moved with her family to her grandfatherâ?TMs farm in Peaster where she lived until her mother died when she was 16 years old. She graduated from Peaster High School and lived in Weatherford with her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Howard Bellenger for a short time. She married Clifford Cotten in February 1942. Together they raised two sons, Bill and Mike. After earning his pharmacy degree at the University of Texas in Austin, Cliff worked as a pharmacist in Weatherford and Olney before buying a drug store and moving his family to Jacksboro in 1962. Millie assisted with merchandising, helping customers and keeping the books for the store. Cotten Drug burned in 1976, but the Cottens rebuilt it and continued to run the business until 1986, when it was closed due to Cliffâ?TMs declining health. Millie lovingly cared for Cliff at home until his death in 1993. Millie was a faithful member at First Baptist Church in Jacksboro. Millie tended her flowers and green plants, taught a four-year-old class in Sunday school and enjoyed her grandchildren very much. In 1997, Millie and a high school beau found each other once again at a class reunion in Peaster. She married Truman Chandler in January, 1998 and moved to Weatherford where she joined the First Baptist Church. Truman and Millie had many wonderful years together. Millie suffered a stroke in 2006, and resided at Holland Lake Nursing Home in Weatherford until her death. Millie had a beautiful smile that would light up a room. She loved her family and friends and she was loved by many. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and May Herring Boyd, three brothers, Herschel, Ben, and Howard Boyd, and by her husband, Clifford Cotten. She is survived by her second husband, Truman Chandler, her two sons: Bill Cotten and wife Nancy of Willow Park, TX, Mike Cotten and wife Angela of Burleson, TX, two stepsons: Terry Chandler and wife Marsha of Paradise, TX, Don Chandler and wife Cynthia of Tapillion, Nebraska, fourteen grandchildren: Susan Cunningham and husband Rex, Mike Cotten and wife Elisha, Jennifer Edwards and husband Mike, Jeff Cotten and wife Carrie, Paul Cotten and wife Holly, Kevin Cotten, Kelly Orsak and husband Tim, Melissa Thompson and husband Michael, Nathan Biegenzahn and wife Suzanne, Victoria Walston and husband Jeremy, Crystal Chmiel, Chris Chandler and wife Gloria, Lindsay Chandler, Jeff Chandler and seventeen great grandchildren.
