Cassie Whitener, 41, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010.Graveside: 1:00 p.m. Friday at East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 8 am to noon, Friday at White's Funeral Home.Cassie was born October 21, 1969 the daughter of David Whitener and Betty Loving Owens in Ardmore, Okla. She graduated from Ardmore HS in 1987 and from Institute of Children's Literature in 2005. Cassie was proud of her Native American family Choctaw. She is the great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Louis Durant and She Ni Yak/Forest Flower, daughter of the Hanak Iska Clan. The Durant family founded the town of Durant, Okla where the Choctaw capital is located. Cassie also held great pride to be a member of the Boswell family, who helped settle Parker and Tarrant Counties. Her great-grandmother, whom she was named for, was Cassandra Lee Boswell Hartman. Cassie loved everyone she met. She has touched so many people as she fought her battle with cancer. Cassie was so proud to be able to do a Promo for Lockheed Martin fund raising for cancer care services. Her goal was to start a foundation to help cancer patients with expenses. She had a giving heart, a loving and generous soul. Cassie lived in Weatherford for 15 years. She worked for Kort Water for ten of those years. She also worked at American Pipe and Steel untilHer health prevented her from working. She was secretary for Front Line Ministries and was a willing servant for God. Her beautiful smile and beautiful blue eyes will be missed. Cassie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dock Monroe and Lojuana Hartman Loving; and paternal grandparents, Perry and Ovella Phillips Whitener.Survivors: mother, Betty L. Owens of Gainesville; father, David J. Whitener of Pine Bluff, AR; brothers, Lowell Grimes of Gainesville, Tyson Whitener of Pine Bluff, AR, David Vowell of Weatherford, and Brian Vowell of Weatherford; sisters, Sheri Saulter of Aledo, Lacy Whitener of Pine Bluff, AR; cousins, Carla Payne, Lojuana Slovak, Rose Marie Cook, Carl, Kyle, and Roland Loving; and best friend, Kelly Bartlett.
