Margaret Louise Fowler, 86, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Weatherford, 221 W. Church St. Interment: 2:30 p.m. in Rice Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Louise was born Feb. 5, 1924, at the Cummins family home in Chatfield, to Charlie Kay and Lillie Cummins Murphey. The Murphey family moved from Corsicana to the Cummins farm when Louise was a teenager. She graduated from Rice High School in 1941. Shortly after graduation, she went to work for Ennis Tag and Salesbook Company. In Ennis, she met William Price Fowler, who had enlisted as a cadet in the Naval Air Corps. After Price graduated as a Navy pilot, they were married on Jan. 25, 1945, in Sanford, Fla. They had been married for 60 years when Price passed away on July 21, 2004. Louise was a retired receptionist for Dr. Carl Whalen and Dr. John Merrick. She was a member of First Baptist Church for many years, working as a greeter for 60 years in the pre-school Sunday School Department. She was also a life member of Texas Parent Teachers Association and a member of Parker County Women's and Newcomers Club. Louise was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Larry Fowler; her brothers, Joe Murphey and Charles Murphey; and her parents. Survivors: Son, Richard Fowler and wife, Connie, of Weatherford; daughters, Brenda Chandler and husband, Lyle, of Frisco and Linda Butler and husband, E.G., of Weatherford; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Ennis.
