MINERAL WELLS -- Alfred J. Nowak, 92, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, in Mineral Wells. Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 108 N.W. 4th Ave., Mineral Wells. Interment: Woodland Park Cemetery. Alfred John Nowak was born Aug. 20, 1918, in Dodson Prairie, son of the late John Rudolph and Pauline Beyer Nowak. Alfred married the former Bobbie Ray Barber in Mineral Wells on Nov. 9, 1957, and they began their life together. He loved to fish and garden and at one time in his life he raised parakeets. He also built birdhouses as a pasttime. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tony, Joe and Charles Nowak; and sisters, Barbara May, Dorothy Gann and Josephine McKee. Survivors: Wife, Bobbie Nowak of Mineral Wells; son, Richard K. Nowak of Fort Worth; sisters, Margaret Jackson of Graford and Kate Jenkins of Weatherford; brother, Ed Nowak of Graford; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
