Marion D. Owens, 83, passed away February 4, 2011 in Fort Worth. Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 12, at First Assembly of God Church. Interment: 3:00 P.M. Monday at Achille Cemetery, Achille, Okla. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Marion was born June 22, 1927 in Wynnewood, Okla. to Marion S. and Mae Owens. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and was a Mason for over 51 years. Marion was Chief of Police in Lake Worth, Port Aransas and Ranger and was an officer with White Settlement Police Department. He served as an officer with Durant Police Department, and served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Bryan County Department in Okla. Marion served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked with the City of Dilano, California as a heavy equipment operator and built escape ramps for 18 wheelers that lost control on mountains. He was an excellent boat motor repairman. Marion was presently a partner in Traders Market on Hwy 199. He liked to camp out, fish and play domino's. Marion had a dirt work business, building driveways, etc for 20 years locally. He enjoyed selling watermelons in the summer at 9-mile Bridge Road and Hwy 199. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and four sisters. Survivors: wife of 51 years, Alma (Poochy) Owens; daughter, Debby Wood and husband, Eddy of Azle; granddaughters, Britain Brooks, Lexy Brooks, Savannah Brooks, Cheyene Wood; and grandson, Taylor Wood; also many nieces and nephews.
