Dorothy "Dot" English Forney, 91, of Fort Worth passed away Feb. 11, 2011 in Fort Worth.Dorothy was born December 6, 1919 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Paul and Catherine Ellen Madden English. A theatrical family, Dot traveled with her father's show extensively throughout the South performing with her sisters, parents and other show business personalities. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she then attended LSU. An accomplished vocalist, Dot performed with many bands during the 1930's.On July 21, 1941, Dorothy English and William "Bill" Forney were united in marriage. To that union was born four children. Dot followed her husband in his oil business career making homes in Louisiana, Indiana, Texas, Oklahoma California, Indonesia and back to Texas where they made Weatherford their retirement home for 25 years. While there, Dot and Bill managed the Live Oak Country Club for many years. Dot was an active member of St Stephens Catholic Church serving as president of the Altar Society and teaching CCD classes. While living in Fort Worth, Dot attended St. Andrew Catholic Church. She was a long time member of the American Repertoire Theatre Society, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Dot enjoyed being with her family, reading, writing letters and watching the Dallas Cowboys.Dot was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her husband, an infant son and grandson.Dot is lovingly missed and remembered by her son, Billy Forney of the home, daughters, Diane Massey and husband, Jack of Dexter, Kansas, Patricia McDermott of the home, Jennifer Maurer and husband, Max of Seguin, Texas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her strong faith and spirit will be remembered by all who loved her.
