Norma Jean Barnes, 82, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011 surrounded by family at her residence. Funeral: 11 a.m., Wednesday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: Soda Springs Cemetery Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home. Norma Jean Barnes was born April 8, 1928, in Soda Springs, daughter of the late Arlie and Marie Grimes Ashley. She was a life time resident of Soda Springs and a life time member of the Millsap Garden Club. Norma Jean married William "Speck" Barnes on Dec. 14, 1946. Mrs. Barnes retired from the administration office of the Mineral Wells ISD. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William "Speck" Barnes in February 2011; and brothers, Howard Ashley and Burke Ashley. Survivors: daughter, Kay Sears and husband, Eddie; grandson, Steven John Sears and wife, Paula; granddaughter, Cindy Southern and husband, Jeffery; great-grandchildren, Steven Layne Sears and Corbett Clay Southern; and numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
